An Intersting Find

The creaking of the rotting wooden door made Emigdio's skin crawl. He adjusted the mask sitting on his face before entering the abandoned temple. It was haunting; a place of such sanctuary shouldn't be left in such a state.  The temple sat alone in the middle of the woods that surrounded his town. He walked into a foyer that was overtaken by greenery. Emigdio took cautious steps as to not set any alarms off if there were any left behind. Large building pieces littered across the floor, making a makeshift path. Carefully sculptured pillars stood tall, with small cracks on them. A whooshing could be heard throughout the old building. “Where is that sound coming from?” He asked himself.

He stood still, listening for where that whooshing could be coming from. The wind knocked against the temple, knocking down some loose debris. Emigdio moved his dual-colored hair out of his eyes. He walked further into the building. The foyer led into a lobby of sorts, which had a big wooden desk in the middle. Vines grew on the desk, covering the name of the temple. It was beautiful to the young man, a place so untouched by man.

Besides the desk were two different doorways. One seemed as if it led to the main area of the temple, where one would listen to a sermon. The other led to what he assumed was a confessional. It's coming from the left. Emigdio walked to the doorway to the left of the desk, parking into it. It was a long, dark hallway with a decaying carpet that led into another room. The room held a tall structure that glowed in a mystical purple color. “Is that a portal?” He questioned, which remained unanswered. It was a tall, looming portal.

Emigdio walked deeper into the room, memorized by such a thing. I never expected to see a portal here. The portal was made of obsidian, a rare material in his town. “How did this even get here?” he questioned again. The room was shrouded in darkness, the only light coming from the mysterious portal. He took out a flashlight from his backpack and turned it on. He shines the light around the room, wanting to explore the area before the portal. Under the portal was another decaying rug, losing its red with rips. Emigdio’s gaze landed on an old, rusted chest covered with dust and debris.

His curiosity got ahold of him as he walked closer to the chest. The old chest was now a desaturated brown, with an old padlock. “Why is this here?” he asked himself.

Open it.

Emigdio looked around the room, “What the… Was that a voice?” He looked back to the chest. I do have a bolt cutter. He set his backpack down to grab the bolt cutter, “Is this even a good idea?” he questioned himself. Emigdio took the tool out, “Well, it’s not like anyone will miss what’s in this.”

Open it.

The male lined up the tool to the lock, “Here goes nothing,” he hyped himself. Emigdio pushed the tool to close, breaking off the lock. The male placed the bolt cutter onto the floor, kneeling before the chest. He removed the lock from the chest and opened it to see nothing inside.  That wasn’t too bad. Glad it wasn’t a bomb. He stood up from kneeling in front of the chest. He looked around the room once more before walking to the portal. He stood in front of the portal, enchanted. Emigdio gasped as he felt something pull him into the portal.

Welcome home.
